Chhattisgarhi cinema is a living document of our folk culture and identity - Chief Minister Sai

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today attended the program 'Safar of Chhattisgarhi films' on the occasion of Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee, organized by Chhattisgarh Film Vikas Nigam at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the Science College campus of the capital Raipur. On this occasion, the Chief Minister shared his views in detail on the development journey, achievements and bright future of Chhattisgarhi cinema. In his address, Chief Minister Sai, remembering the contribution of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in the formation of Chhattisgarh Film Vikas Nigam, said that he played an important role in laying a strong foundation of Chhaliwood. Remembering the first Chairman of the Corporation, late Shri Rajesh Awasthi, he said that his untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only for Chhattisgarhi cinema but for the entire state.


Chief Minister Sai stated that Chhattisgarhi cinema has entered a new era. Describing the current Chairperson of the Corporation, Ms. Mona Sen, as an experienced, hardworking, and dedicated artist, he expressed confidence that under her leadership, Chhaliwood will ensure all-round development. The Chief Minister stated that in the future, Chhattisgarhi films will further establish the state's culture, art, and identity at the national and international levels. Referring to the historic journey of film production in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Sai stated that film production in the state began in 1957. He described the National Award received by the film "Bhoolan The Maze," based on the novel "Bhoolan Kanda," as a matter of pride for the entire state. The Chief Minister stated that Chhattisgarhi cinema is deeply rooted in folk culture, folklore, and social concerns, which gives it a unique identity. He stated that Chhattisgarhi cinema is a living document of our folk culture and identity.


The Chief Minister stated that the state government is working with full seriousness and commitment to the development of Chhattisgarhi films. In this regard, Chitrotpala Film City is being constructed, for which an amount of ₹150 crore has been approved. He expressed confidence that the future of Chhaliwood in the state is bright and that the government will provide all possible support to take the film industry to new heights. Congratulating the State of Chhattisgarh on its Silver Jubilee year, Chief Minister Sai stated that this historic year is writing a new chapter in the all-round development of the state. He expressed hope that this event will prove to be a milestone in the development of Chhattisgarhi films. 
On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai honored producers and senior artists Mohan Sundarani, Satish Jain, Santosh Jain, Manoj Verma, Anuj Sharma, and Prem Chandrakar, who have made significant contributions to Chhattisgarhi cinema.
Addressing the event, Ms. Mona Sen, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, congratulated Chief Minister Shri Sai and expressed her gratitude for the reorganization of the corporation. While thanking Satish Jain, producer of Chhattisgarhi film Mor Chhainha Bhuinya, he said that this film played an important role in giving a new identity to Chhattisgarhi cinema. He also reiterated his commitment towards the overall and sustainable development of Chhattisgarhi film industry.
On this occasion, Skill Development Minister Guru Khuswant Saheb, MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Anuj Sharma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Deepak Mhaske, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Fishermen Welfare Board Bharat Matiara, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Oil Mill Development Board Jitendra Sahu, Director of Culture Department Vivek Acharya along with a large number of artists, producers and dignitaries were present.
