A new path to health in remote tribal areas – Chief Minister Sai flagged off 57 mobile medical unit vehicles.

RaipurHealth services will now reach people at their doorsteps in remote and densely forested tribal areas. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai flagged off 57 mobile medical unit vehicles in Nava Raipur on Wednesday as part of the Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Campaign (PM Janman). Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, along with cabinet members, public representatives, and departmental officials and employees, were present at the event. Preparations have been completed to provide regular health services to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) through the operation of mobile medical units. The government believes that given the difficulties faced by communities living in remote areas in reaching hospitals, this arrangement will bring health facilities directly to their villages and settlements. The deployment of mobile medical units will provide regular health services to more than 2,100 villages and settlements across 18 districts of the state. This will directly benefit over two lakh particularly vulnerable tribal groups. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai stated that families living in hilly and inaccessible areas will now have access to treatment and testing facilities in their villages. He described this initiative as a solid foundation for the all-round participation of tribal communities and health security. Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that this is a proud day for Chhattisgarh. The Scheduled Tribes (SBCs) are the most disadvantaged in society, economically, socially, and educationally. Of Chhattisgarh's 30 million population, 230,000 Scheduled Tribes (SBCs) reside in 2,100 settlements across 18 districts. This mobile medical unit will prove to be a boon for them. This work will be facilitated through these 57 fully equipped mobile medical units. These units will be staffed by doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and local volunteers. These units will offer 25 types of testing and 106 types of medicines, free of charge. Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated and wished Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, CGMSC Chairman Shri Deepak Mhaske, and all the officials and employees for this innovative scheme. On this occasion, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai are working tirelessly for the upliftment of the Special Backward Classes. These mobile medical units are for remote forest areas where access to health facilities is limited. Today, 57 mobile medical units are being dedicated to the entire state, fulfilling Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's dream. Minister Shri Jaiswal thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for providing Chhattisgarh with the opportunity to participate and contribute to this noble cause. Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the PM Janman Yojana on November 15, 2023, for the socio-economic upliftment of the Special Backward Classes. Its objective is to provide basic amenities directly to settlements. He added that in case of emergency, these units will make it easier to transport patients to nearby health centers. Our aim is not just machines,The goal is to ensure the availability of skilled and compassionate staff. Each mobile medical unit is staffed with a doctor, nurse, lab technician, pharmacist, and local health volunteers. These units will organize health camps every 15 days, providing over 25 tests and treatments for various diseases, and distributing essential medicines. Serious patients will be referred to the nearest health institution as needed. It's worth noting that in the past, due to a lack of resources, health services were unable to reach remote areas regularly. Now, with the availability of new vehicles and trained personnel, this system can be operated continuously. This initiative will help in the timely identification and prevention of problems like tuberculosis, malaria, anemia, and malnutrition.
