Raigarh sets record in Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0, 29,947 water conservation works completed
Raigarh has achieved significant success in addressing the water crisis. Of the more than 31,000 water conservation projects in the district, nearly 30,000 have been completed. Building on this success, the administration has set a goal to further strengthen water security under JSJB 3.0.
Raigarh. Raigarh district has achieved remarkable success in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) 2.0 campaign, which aims to transform water conservation into a mass movement. As per the report of May 27, 2026, 31,157 water conservation and groundwater enrichment works were registered in the district through various departments and institutions. Of these, 29,947 works have been completed, while 1,210 works are in progress. The success of the campaign is considered to be the result of departmental coordination, active participation of gram panchayats and effective implementation at the local level.
The highest number of 22,906 works in the district were registered through the District Panchayat, of which 21,929 works have been completed. Apart from this, Forest Division Raigarh completed 3,971 works, Forest Division Dharamjaigarh completed 2,342 works, Public Health Engineering Department completed 1,185 works, Municipal Corporation completed 328 works and Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh divisions of Water Resources Department completed 92 and 102 works respectively. With the joint participation of various departments, water conservation has gained momentum on a large scale.A total of 1,332 water conservation works are being carried out at the village level through VB-JIRAMJI and MNREGA. These include 509 recharge pits and soak pits, 92 loose boulder check dams, 66 rainwater harvesting structures, 55 pond deepenings, 36 trenches, 32 gabion structures, 21 earthen gully plugs, 36 sand filters, 251 plantations, livelihood ponds, drain cleaning, Nava Taria, percolation tanks, and other structural works. These efforts aim to maximize rainwater harvesting, increase groundwater recharge, and ensure long-term water security in rural areas.
Now, following the success of JSJB 2.0, Raigarh District will move forward with renewed vigor in the JSJB 3.0 "Catch the Rain" campaign. In this phase, special attention will be paid to the conservation, revitalization, and effective use of existing water structures, along with the construction of new structures, so that every village can become self-sufficient in water conservation.
