A proposal worth over Rs 7 crore has been prepared for the rejuvenation of Maharani Hospital.

Raipur-- Under the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, a proposal has been made to make the historic Maharani Hospital of Jagdalpur a fully equipped and modern medical center of the division and the renovation work will be done in various phases from time to time at a cost of more than 7 crore rupees, through which the people of Bastar can get the best health facilities. The renovation of Maharani Hospital will be completed in more than two phases, which include OPD, emergency unit, OT complex, and ICU.

 Millions of people in the Bastar division will benefit from significant and reassuring news. Super-specialty healthcare facilities will soon be available to patients locally. A proposal worth over ₹7.1 million has been prepared for the comprehensive upgrade and modernization of Maharani Hospital, the district hospital in Jagdalpur. At a meeting of the Jeevan Deep Committee, chaired by Jagdalpur Collector Mr. Akash Chhikara, several important decisions were taken to strengthen the hospital's infrastructure and provide world-class treatment to patients.

Modern operation theatres and new machines will be available

        According to the proposal, the hospital's medical system is being completely upgraded. The modular OT renovation will include refurbishing the operating theaters (OTs) of the Obstetrics, Gynecology, and General Surgery departments with state-of-the-art facilities. The hospital's electrical system will be improved for essential services like CT scans. New machines, such as color Doppler, mobile DR systems, endoscopy, and laparoscopy, will also be purchased. Modern equipment is being procured for ophthalmology and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) treatments.

Special attention to infant and child health

        Health services in the division will be further strengthened to provide better treatment for newborns and children. Under this initiative, repair and safety measures have been approved for the 12-bed Pediatric ICU (PICU) and 30-bed Pediatric Ward to ensure their operational effectiveness. State-of-the-art equipment will be purchased for the SNCU and MNCU wards to treat critically ill children.

The hospital will become self-sufficient in terms of electricity.

        Maharani Hospital is undergoing a major investment to ensure uninterrupted power supply and energy self-sufficiency. An on-grid solar power system will be installed at the hospital at a cost of ₹7.8 million. A new high-capacity DG (generator) set will also be installed for emergency power backup at a cost of ₹6.5 million. Parking facilities and a "home shelter" will be constructed on the hospital campus for patient relatives.

Tough decision for transparency

       In order to maintain transparency in healthcare services and the quality of medicines, the committee has recommended not extending the current contract with the Dhanvantari Medicine Center. Additionally, instructions have been given to restart the Microbiology Department within the Atal Arogya Lab as soon as possible. Biomedical waste management and the repair of air handling units have also been approved.

Work will be completed within the stipulated time frame

      Collector Mr. Akash Chhikara issued strict instructions to officials, urging them to complete all approved development projects within the stipulated timeframe and with high quality. He stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to provide poor patients from remote and rural areas of Bastar division with access to high-quality and accessible medical facilities within Jagdalpur, eliminating the need to travel outside for treatment. This initiative will elevate Bastar's health infrastructure to new heights.

Government land secured by removing illegal encroachments in Dhamdha tehsil, clear message to land mafia: encroachment on government land will not be tolerated at any cost

Raipur, Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the district administration is continuously taking strict action in Durg district under the state government's zero tolerance policy for the protection of government land and against land mafias. Under the direction of Collector Shri Abhijeet Singh, the administration has once again made it clear that there is no place in the district for those who illegally occupy government land and strict and legal action against such elements will continue.

In the same sequence, long-standing illegal encroachments on government land in the village of Basni in Dhamdha tehsil were removed and the land was freed from encroachment. Some influential individuals had illegally encroached upon government land by erecting electric fences and cultivating Kharif and Rabi crops. Upon receiving the complaint, Collector Mr. Abhijeet Singh took the matter seriously and ordered an immediate investigation.

Tehsildar Dhamdha received a report from the Halka Patwari and conducted a detailed investigation and hearing into the revenue case. Upon confirmation of the facts, a formal eviction order was passed against the encroachers. In compliance with the order, on June 22, 2026, through a joint effort by the Revenue Department and the Gram Panchayat Basni, extensive action was taken to free the government land from encroachment.

Tehsildar Mrs. Meena Sahu said that during the action, the encroachment made by Seva Ram Lodhi on 20 decimals of government land of Khasra number 1077 and 0.34 hectare of land of Khasra number 1188 was removed. Similarly, 7 decimals of government land was freed from the possession of Rajkumar Lodhi and 13 decimals of government land was freed from the possession of Raj Kapoor Lodhi. Meanwhile, the illegal encroachment made by Shiv Kumar Maurya on 8 decimals of land of Khasra number 1077 and 0.19 hectare of land of Khasra number 1076 and the electric wire installed by him were removed and the land was secured in favor of the government. The entire action was completed peacefully and legally, in which Revenue Inspector Dhamdha, Revenue Inspector Pendravan, Halka Patwari and Gram Panchayat Secretary were present.

The district administration has clarified that, in accordance with the wishes of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, protecting government properties is a top priority. Similar strict action will continue in the future against land mafias, illegal occupants, and those who misuse government land. This decisive initiative by the administration has created an atmosphere of satisfaction and confidence among the villagers, and this step to protect government land is being widely appreciated.

Kodo and Kutki hold special significance in Chhattisgarh's rich agricultural tradition. These minor grains, integral to the diets of tribal and rural communities for centuries, are once again a topic of discussion among farmers, agricultural scientists, and health experts. Amid changing climatic conditions, nutritional challenges, and the need for improved agriculture, millet crops like Kodo and Kutki are emerging as a strong foundation for future agriculture.

Kodo (Paspalum scrobiculatum) and kutki (Panicum sumatrense) are crops that can be successfully grown with little water, low input costs, and limited resources. This is why they are becoming a means of economic security for small and marginal farmers. They are also possible to cultivate in low-fertility, rocky, and sloping soils where other crops cannot produce the desired yield.

Today, as the world returns to healthier eating, the importance of kodo and kutki has increased. Kodo is rich in protein, carbohydrates, iron, and calcium, while kutki is rich in fiber, protein, phosphorus, and other minerals. Experts say that regular consumption can help manage conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and anemia. This is why they are now being recognized as "super foods."

The Chhattisgarh government is also making continuous efforts to promote millet crops. In the year 2026, the minimum support price of Kodo has been fixed at Rs 3,200 per quintal and that of Kutki at Rs 3,350 per quintal. This has increased the enthusiasm of farmers towards cultivation of these crops along with getting better prices. According to departmental information, in Kharif year 2025, Kodo crop was planted in 39.02 hectares and Kutki crop in 38.03 hectares in the state. However, in the last Kharif year, the production of Kodo per hectare was recorded at 550 kg and that of Kutki at 675 kg. That is, the production of Kodo was 21.46 tonnes, while that of Kutki was 25.67 tonnes.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has also appealed to the farmers to increase the production of crops like Kodo, Kutki and Ragi along with paddy.

Agricultural scientists believe that adopting advanced techniques can significantly increase the productivity of kodo-kutki. With the onset of the monsoon, from the last week of June to the first fortnight of July, measures such as sowing, seed treatment, row planting, balanced fertilizer management, and timely weed control can ensure improved yields for farmers.

Growing market demand, the expansion of millet-based products, and government incentive schemes are steadily increasing the commercial importance of these crops. Once confined to rural and tribal areas, kodo-kutki is now making its mark in national and international markets.

Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel today took detailed information from the officials regarding the extensive preparations being made in this regard at the Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. Through which the benefits of the government's public welfare schemes will be extended to all eligible families. Amid fears of a weak monsoon this year due to the impact of El Niño, the Chhattisgarh government has taken swift steps to protect the interests of farmers. To combat the drought, the state government has developed a comprehensive strategy prioritizing short-duration crops, pulses and oilseeds, seed security, and crop insurance. Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ram Vichhar Netam provided this information at a meeting chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The meeting was held via videoconferencing. 

Agriculture Production Commissioner Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Director Agriculture Mr. Rahul Dev, Director Research Dr. Vivek Tripathi and senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. 

Green energy will be generated from agricultural residues, dung and organic waste, increasing farmers' income and providing new impetus to investment.

This policy will prove to be an important initiative in giving a new direction to clean energy, green industrialization, agriculture-based economy and environmental protection in the state.

Chhattisgarh has the potential to produce approximately 1.65 lakh metric tons of compressed biogas (CBG) annually from agricultural and crop residues, paddy straw, animal dung, livestock waste, municipal solid waste, pressmud, sugarcane residue, and energy crops such as Napier. This will boost clean energy production in the state and reduce dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

Effective implementation of the new policy will enable the supply of approximately 216,000 tons of fuel equivalent to petrol and diesel annually through CBG. This will not only save foreign exchange but also strengthen the country's energy self-sufficiency.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai stated that this policy will bring new opportunities for Chhattisgarh's farmers, cattle herders, and the rural economy. Better utilization of agricultural residues and organic waste will increase farmers' additional income and create new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in rural areas.

The use of organic manure, a by-product of CBG plants, will promote natural and organic farming. This will reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, preserve soil fertility, and promote sustainable agriculture.

This policy will also play a key role in moving the state towards green development and a climate-resilient economy. The use of CBG will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable Chhattisgarh to effectively contribute towards the national goal of net-zero emissions.

This policy is in line with the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) initiative launched by the Government of India to promote sustainable and affordable transportation. This initiative by Chhattisgarh will significantly contribute to the national clean energy efforts.

The policy will also benefit the developing city gas distribution network and gas infrastructure in the state. This will develop a strong ecosystem for CBG production, distribution, and utilization, and provide better opportunities for investors.

The Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) is actively pursuing initiatives in the CBDG sector starting in 2024. CBDG plants are currently being established at eight locations, including Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Ambikapur, Raigarh, and Korba, with investments from BPCL and GAIL India Limited. Land allocation for all these projects has been completed.

The private sector has also shown significant interest in the CBDG industry in the state, with investment proposals worth approximately ₹3,600 crore received. The implementation of the new policy will further boost the potential for large-scale investment, job creation, and industrial development in this sector.

The policy, approved by the Council of Ministers, has six key pillars – basic infrastructure support, feedstock supply chain strengthening, plant establishment and operation support, biofertilizer management and supporting infrastructure development, CBG demand creation and integration in the transportation sector, and investment promotion and industry development.

Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) has been designated as the state nodal agency for effective implementation of the policy.

CM Shri Vishnu Deo Sai highlights sports infrastructure push, honours athletes on Olympic Day

Raipur,Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai planted a Rudraksha sapling and participated in a plantation drive and athlete felicitation programme organised by the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association at Palod village in Naya Raipur on the occasion of International Olympic Day.

Marking India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, a total of 2,036 saplings were planted as a symbolic gesture supporting the national aspiration. Shri Sai said the initiative represented a commitment towards building a healthier, greener and stronger India for future generations.

Extending greetings to athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts on International Olympic Day, the Chief Minister said the state government is continuously working to promote sporting talent and create modern sports infrastructure. Chhattisgarh has successfully hosted the Khelo India National Tribal Games while Bastar Olympics which has emerged as a platform for nurturing sporting talent from remote regions. On the occasion of the completion of five years of the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperatives of the Government of India, a review meeting was held at the residence office in Nawa Raipur regarding the preparations for the Cooperative Week to be held from 29 June to 6 July 2026. In the meeting, Minister of Cooperatives Mr. Kedar Kashyap gave necessary guidelines to the departmental officers and representatives of various cooperative organizations and federations.

      Addressing the strong base meeting of cooperative farmers and rural development, Minister Kedar Kashyap said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, the cooperative sector has got a new identity in the country. Today, cooperatives have become an effective means of farmers' prosperity, rural development, women's empowerment and building a self-reliant India.

Cooperation Week Minister Shri Kashyap, who reached every district,
      said that the Cooperation Week was not just a formal event but became a public participation campaign. For this, programs should be organized in all districts, development blocks and cooperative societies of the state and maximum participation of farmers, youth, women and common citizens should be ensured.
Special focus will be on awareness and innovation
    Mr. Kashyap directed the officers to give priority to awareness, participation and innovation in the week-long programs. People should be informed about cooperative schemes, achievements and benefits, so that more and more people can join cooperatives. 
There will be active participation of various sections

       Minister Shri Kashyap said that active participation of farmers, women self-help groups, dairy farmers, fish farmers, forest produce collectors and artisans should be ensured during the cooperation week. This will further strengthen the cooperative movement.          The preparations for the state level exhibition were also reviewed in the meeting where
success stories will be given prominence
. Minister Mr. Kashyap directed that the success stories, innovations and ground achievements of the beneficiaries benefited from cooperation should be displayed in the exhibition instead of just statistics, so that people can understand the real strength of cooperation.
'Emphasis on modern technology and digital services'
         Minister Shri Kashyap said that it is the need of the hour to connect cooperatives with modern technology, digital services, value addition and better marketing arrangements. Special demonstrations and discussions on these topics will also be organized during the Cooperation Week. The
role
       and achievements of District Cooperative Bank, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, Marketing Association, Dairy Federation, Fisheries Federation, Small Forest Products Association and other cooperative organizations were reviewed in the meeting. All organizations were requested to effectively present their achievements and future plans.
'Resolve to realize "Cooperation Se Samriddhi"
          Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap said that "Cooperation Se Samriddhi" is not just a slogan, but the basis of the working culture of development. Our goal is that the benefits of co-operatives reach the last person of the society and make Chhattisgarh a strong identity among the leading co-operative states of the country.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh's development journey has been marked today with a significant milestone. The discovery of diamonds during scientific exploration in the Baloda-Belmundi Diamond Block in the Saraipali area of ​​Mahasamund district has provided a significant step towards establishing a new identity for the state in the field of mineral wealth. Following the testing and processing of a 200-ton bulk sample by NMDC-CMDC Limited, five diamonds weighing a total of 1.22 carats were recovered. This achievement confirms the potential for diamond mineralization in the region and could provide the basis for large-scale investment, revenue generation, and new employment opportunities in the future.

According to information provided to the state government by NMDC-CMDC Limited, based on scientific surveys, stream sediment sampling, geophysical studies, and exploration drilling conducted in the Baloda-Belmundi area, approximately 200 tons of bulk samples of mineral material were collected and tested from the identified area. The five diamonds obtained after processing include two gem-quality diamonds and three other grade diamonds.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai described this achievement as extremely encouraging for Chhattisgarh, saying it is a significant milestone in the state's economic potential and the scientific exploitation of its natural resources. He said the state government is committed to scientific exploration, transparent management, and value-addition-based industrial development of mineral resources.

He said that Chhattisgarh is already among the country's leading mineral-producing states and plays a leading role in the fields of iron ore, coal, bauxite, and limestone. Now, the confirmed diamond prospects will further enrich the state's mineral diversity and strengthen its mineral economy.

The Chief Minister said that the state government's policy is not limited to mineral extraction, but also focuses on promoting mineral-based industries, value-addition units, and local employment generation. The goal of a developed Chhattisgarh is being realized by encouraging investment, industry, and economic activity through the state's mineral resources.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that to build a developed Chhattisgarh, the state government is working equally in all sectors of minerals, agriculture, industry, infrastructure and human resource development. This success achieved in the Baloda-Belmundi region will give the state's mineral potential a new identity at the national level and open new doors for investment, employment and inclusive development.

He expressed confidence that through scientific exploration and modern technologies, the discovery of mineral wealth in other potential areas of the state will also gain momentum, due to which Chhattisgarh will emerge as a major centre of mineral-based economy and industrial development of the country in the coming years.

Experts believe that this initial success is a crucial indicator for future, extensive exploration efforts. This will pave the way for comprehensive studies of the area's geological structure, resource potential, and potential reserves. Further surveys and tests will allow for a more accurate assessment of the area's true potential.

It is noteworthy that the diamonds obtained as a result of bulk sample testing conducted in Baloda-Belmundi Diamond Block have been kept in safe custody in the strong room of NMDC located in Panna and further action will be taken as per rules and scientific standards.

Raipur: A new era has dawned in Chhattisgarh's higher education sector. The Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), a series of major approvals and gifts received from the central government between 2014 and 2026, is proving to be a boon for the state. The central government has approved substantial financial grants for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), improved National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading of colleges and universities, and the development of quality infrastructure, including research. This scheme is a refined and more advanced version of the earlier Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Received 'mega budget' for infrastructure development

A total of ₹12,926.10 crore has been allocated nationwide under this scheme. Chhattisgarh has received a significant portion of this massive budget. Under the scheme, selected eligible government universities in Chhattisgarh are receiving substantial grants ranging from ₹20 crore to ₹100 crore per institution under the Multi-Disciplinary Education and Research Universities (MERU) program. Project-based grants of up to ₹5 crore are being approved for infrastructure strengthening for identified government colleges. This financial burden is being shared by the central and state governments in a 60:40 ratio (60% central and 40% state).

​Plan on the ground: Construction of smart classrooms and modern labs underway

In Chhattisgarh, this scheme is not limited to paper, but is progressing rapidly on the ground. The Higher Education Department of the Chhattisgarh Government has already executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Government. Currently, selected colleges are preparing and uploading detailed project reports (DPRs) to the portal. Additionally, construction of state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as smart classrooms, modern labs, and computer centers, is progressing rapidly in educational institutions across the state.

The most significant aspect of the PM-USHA scheme is its inclusiveness. All 33 districts of Chhattisgarh are benefiting from this project. The scheme specifically prioritizes government colleges in tribal-dominated areas and remote regions, such as Bastar and Surguja divisions, areas with low gross enrollment ratios (GER), and aspirational districts such as Dhamtari, Gariaband, and Mahasamund, to bring these areas lagging behind in the development race into the mainstream.

​Flights to the dreams of more than 5 lakh students

This visionary project is directly benefiting over 500,000 students studying in various government educational institutions across the state. The greatest beneficiaries of this scheme are students from rural areas, Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), and women. Now, youth from Chhattisgarh's forest regions and remote villages are also gaining access to world-class modern education and research facilities within their own state, laying a strong foundation for their bright future.

Raipur. CG WEATHER UPDATE: Monsoon has brought relief to those suffering from heat and humidity. The monsoon, which had been delayed for a long time, entered Chhattisgarh on June 22nd, changing the weather in many areas. Rain fell in several areas, including Dantewada, Bijapur, and Raipur. The Meteorological Department has predicted temperatures in central regions will remain around 3 degrees above normal for the next two days. Rain and thunderstorm activity are expected in the state for the next five days. Light to moderate rainfall occurred at a few locations on Monday. The highest temperature was 40 degrees Celsius in Rajnandgaon, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 22.7 degrees Celsius in Jagdalpur.

. Clouds are expected to bring another round of rain to Raipur. Cloudy skies, rain, and strong winds are expected. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius.

The southern regions of the state received the most rainfall. Jagdalpur in Bastar district received 5 cm and Nangur 2 cm, Kuakonda in Dantewada district received 3 cm, Katekalyan and Geedam received 1 cm, and Balrampur received 2 cm. Bhairamgarh and Gadiras also received 1 cm of rain each.

The Meteorological Department (IMD
) informed that a seasonal trough at mean sea level extends from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while another trough extends from Telangana to Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, up to the Gulf of Mannar.

Light to moderate rain is expected in some parts of the state today. Strong winds may blow at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected. Similar weather conditions are expected for the next two days. Thunderstorms and strong winds (40-50 km/h) are likely.

Important decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting held today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai –

1. In a significant decision to promote employment, empowerment, convergence of departmental schemes and digital governance in rural areas, the Council of Ministers today approved the draft of *"Developed India - Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural): VB-G Ram Ji Yojana* Chhattisgarh". Under this scheme, which is being implemented in accordance with the Government of India Act, 2025, adult members of eligible rural families will be provided a statutory guarantee of 125 days of unskilled labor-based employment in every financial year.

This scheme will address water conservation, natural resource management, rural infrastructure development, livelihood asset development, and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas. This scheme will promote integrated development based on Gram Panchayats, convergence of departmental schemes, and coordination with PM Gati Shakti. Transparency, good governance, and accountability will be strengthened by utilizing modern technology and digital systems for better planning and monitoring of development works.

The ratio of expenditure between the Centre and the State in the implementation of this scheme will be 60:40 and a provision of Rs 4,000 crore has been made in the State Budget for the financial year 2026-27.

2. The Cabinet meeting took an important decision to launch the "Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat" scheme to strengthen the rural economy and create new employment opportunities at the local level. Under this scheme, creation centers (handloom, weaving, handicrafts, etc.), processing units (pulses, oilseeds, rice mills, dairy, etc.), service centers (cold storage, solar dryers, agricultural equipment repair, Atal Digital Center, etc.), marketing centers, and supply centers will be established in rural areas.

The objective of this scheme is to promote local production, processing, service, and marketing activities by optimally utilizing available infrastructure and machinery. This will provide new employment and self-employment opportunities for villagers within their own areas and provide better markets for local products. For implementation of the scheme, the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihoods Mission has been designated as the nodal agency and the Panchayat and Rural Development Department as the nodal department.

Through *''Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat''* agriculture, food processing, service business, digital technology, green energy and rural markets will get a new impetus and the rural livelihood of the state will get a strong foundation.

3. The Council of Ministers also approved the draft *Chhattisgarh Compressed Biogas Policy (CG-CBG Policy), 2026* today. This policy will scientifically manage agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, livestock waste, and other organic resources available in the state and convert them into compressed biogas, a clean gaseous fuel.

This policy will provide new impetus to waste management, environmental protection, greenhouse gas emission reduction, bio-fertilizer production, and the rural economy. According to the Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047, the state has the potential to produce approximately 5 lakh tonnes of CBD annually. For the implementation of this policy, the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority has been authorized to act as the state nodal agency, and the Energy Department has been authorized to issue necessary guidelines and administrative orders.
