Budget dedicated to the prosperity of Bastar and Naxal-free Chhattisgarh: Sharma

Raipur. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister/Home Minister Vijay Sharma described the state government's 2026-27 budget as a historic step toward rejuvenating Naxal-affected areas and empowering security forces. The state's double-engine government, led by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, is fully committed to restoring peace and ensuring all-round development in Bastar. Mr. Sharma stated that special provisions have been made in the budget to strengthen security on the Naxal-affected front. The government has announced the creation of 1,500 additional posts in the Bastar Fighters, a specialized police unit. This will not only provide employment to local youth but also increase their participation in the security system. 
Furthermore, to encourage Bastar youth to shift from guns to sports and technology, a budget of ₹10 crore has been allocated for events like the "Bastar Olympics" and the Bastar Marathon. "Our goal is not only to eradicate Naxalism, but also to provide work to every hand and a smile to every face in Bastar," he said. Similarly, ₹75 crore each has been allocated for the Bastar and Surguja Development Authorities. ₹10 crore has been allocated for the expansion of air services from Jagdalpur and Ambikapur, ₹10 crore for the Chief Minister's Bus Service Scheme, ₹10 crore for the Chhattisgarh Home Stay Policy, ₹50 crore for the operation of medical colleges in Kunkuri, Manendragarh, and Dantewada, ₹15 crore for the promotion of goat rearing, pig breeding, and beekeeping, and ₹2,024 crore for the construction of the Matnar and Deurgaon barrages on the Indravati River in Bastar. ₹15 crore has been approved for the Mattimarka Diversion Scheme in Bijapur, the construction of the Medki Barrage in Kanker, and additional nutrition assistance in Bastar and Surguja.
