Chhattisgarhi is ahead of English in More Bijli App and SMS service

00 Growing acceptance of Chhattisgarhi in digital services, increasing trend of use of mother tongue among electricity consumers
Raipur. Amidst the increasing use of digital services, a special attachment towards mother tongue Chhattisgarhi is being seen among the electricity consumers of the state. A large number of consumers are now preferring to get information in Chhattisgarhi language in the digital services of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, which shows the growing trust and affinity towards the local language.

The official language, Chhattisgarhi, is gaining a new identity in the digital age. More than four lakh consumers have now opted to receive information in Chhattisgarhi on the Chhattisgarh State Power Companies' More Bijli app and SMS service. This number is nearly ten times higher than those who chose English, reflecting the growing respect and trust the state's residents have for their mother tongue.

Energy Secretary and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution and Generation Company, Dr. Rohit Yadav said that promoting the official language Chhattisgarhi is the priority of the company. Availability of information in the local language makes the message reach the consumers in a more clear, simple and effective manner. This initiative is further strengthening the communication between the administration and the general public.
Mobile numbers of about 39 lakh consumers of the state are linked to the SMS service. Out of these, messages are being sent in Hindi to 34.7 lakh consumers, in Chhattisgarhi to more than four lakh and in English to about 35 thousand consumers. These messages include electricity bill payment, information about power supply disruption and other important information.

Mr. Umesh Kumar Mishra, Additional General Manager (Public Relations) of the power company, said that consumers can easily change their language by contacting the 1912 call center or through the More Bijli app.
More Bijli App: A symbol of convenience and trust,
the More Bijli app, developed by the company's engineers, has been downloaded by more than 30 lakh consumers so far. This app, available for free on the Google Play Store, has been given an commendable rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 by consumers.
