Raipur— When women are empowered, they can accomplish amazing things. They can gain education, work in any field, and make decisions for themselves. This not only benefits them but also strengthens families and communities. Inspiring examples of women's empowerment and self-reliance demonstrate that through education, determination, and economic independence, women can not only transform their own destiny but also bring revolutionary changes to society. The success story of Janaki, a resident of Kharra village in the Kurud development block of Dhamtari district, has become an inspiring example of women's empowerment and self-reliance. Once a simple housewife who supported her family in farming, Janaki has now carved out a niche for herself as a successful businesswoman. Her achievements are due to the guidance she received from the Rural Livelihood Mission's "Bihan" scheme and her continuous hard work. Janaki joined the Jai Maa Gayatri Women's Self-Help Group, gaining knowledge about economic activities. Through the group, she gained awareness about savings, banking, and self-employment opportunities. Subsequently, she started a textile business with a loan from the Community Investment Fund (CIF). Through her hard work and customer trust, her business gradually grew. Obtaining additional loans through the group's bank linkage, she expanded her business and opened a fancy store. Subsequently, she opened a shoe shop with a loan under the Mudra scheme. Currently, her business sells clothing, fancy goods, and footwear, generating a good monthly income and strengthening her family's financial situation. Janaki has not only become self-reliant but has also become a source of inspiration for other women in the village. She plays an active role as the president of the farming group, the president of the Village Organization (VO), and a BRC member, encouraging women to adopt savings, self-employment, and entrepreneurship. Due to her efforts, many women of the village are participating in economic activities by joining self-help groups. Janaki's success shows that if women get the right opportunities, training and support, they can not only improve the economic condition of their families but can also become a strong example of positive change in the entire society.
