Amit Jogi convicted in Jaggi murder case, High Court orders surrender within 3 weeks; Jogi says, "I was wronged."

Bilaspur. Significant news has emerged from the judiciary regarding the highly controversial Ramavtar Jaggi murder case in Chhattisgarh. The Bilaspur High Court has convicted Amit Jogi, son of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and Chairman of the JCCJ, in the case. The court has issued strict instructions to him to surrender within three weeks.

Jogi's reaction: "Verdict delivered in 40 minutes."
Amit Jogi has reacted sharply to the High Court's decision. Calling it against the principles of natural justice, he said, "Today the High Court accepted the CBI's appeal against me in just 40 minutes, without even giving me a single opportunity to be heard. I regret that a person who was previously acquitted has been declared guilty without presenting his case. A grave injustice has been done to me." Amit Jogi further stated that he has full faith in the Supreme Court and will challenge this decision there.

What is the Jaggi murder case of 2003?

This 21-year-old case shook Chhattisgarh politics. On June 4, 2003, NCP leader Ramavtar Jaggi was shot dead. A total of 31 accused were named in the case. Two of them (Baltu Pathak and Surendra Singh) became government witnesses. On May 31, 2007, a special court in Raipur sentenced 28 people, but Amit Jogi was acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Satish Jaggi's long legal battle

Ramavtar Jaggi's son, Satish Jaggi, had appealed to the Supreme Court against the acquittal of Amit Jogi. The Supreme Court later remanded the case back to the High Court. After a lengthy legal process, the High Court has now issued its verdict on the CBI's appeal.

what next

Following the High Court's decision, Amit Jogi now has only 21 days (3 weeks) to act. If he doesn't receive immediate relief from the Supreme Court, he will face jail time. This decision has once again heated up the state's political landscape.
