Jashpurnagar). With the Kharif season in mind, the Agriculture Department has made extensive preparations to ensure timely availability of quality fertilizers and seeds to the district's farmers. Following instructions from the Government of India and the State Government, farmers are being ensured the availability of adequate fertilizers so they don't face any difficulties during farming. 

According to information received from the Agriculture Department, fertilizers and seeds are available in sufficient quantities in the district, and there is no shortage. To facilitate farmers and increase agricultural production, an integrated nutrient management system recommended by scientists is being promoted. Under this system, the use of biofertilizers, organic manures, green manures, and other alternative fertilizers is being encouraged in addition to chemical fertilizers. To promote balanced fertilizer use, reduce farming costs, and maintain soil fertility, cooperative societies are stocking 80 percent of urea and 60 percent of DAP based on last year's consumption. The remaining 20 percent of urea will be made available as other alternative fertilizers or nano urea, and the remaining 40 percent of DAP will be made available as alternative NPK fertilizers or nano DAP. This will be provided according to farmers' needs and preferences.

Against the district's target of 19,150 metric tons of fertilizer in the cooperative sector, 7,756 metric tons of fertilizer have been stored so far, representing approximately 40 percent of the total target. Of this, 1,186.12 metric tons have been lifted by farmers, while 6,569.83 metric tons are currently available. This clearly demonstrates the district's assured availability of adequate fertilizers for the upcoming Kharif season. Similarly, a total of 7,596 liters of nano fertilizers, including 4,128 liters of nano urea and 3,468 liters of nano DAP, have been stored. Of these, 135 liters have been distributed, leaving 7,463 liters of nano fertilizer available. Fertilizers are being distributed to farmers according to their acreage and scientific recommendations, ensuring equitable benefits for each farmer.

The Agriculture Department is also encouraging farmers to use green manure and biofertilizers. Interested and selected farmers are being distributed 8 kilograms of lentil seeds and 4 kilograms of green gram seeds per acre as green manure. Additionally, blue green algae is being cultivated in the fields of identified farmers, including the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dumrbahar and the Government Agricultural Farm Susdega. This biofertilizer provides natural nutrition to crops by fixing atmospheric nitrogen and improves soil quality and fertility. The Agriculture Department is also continuously monitoring the situation to ensure the availability of quality fertilizers to farmers at reasonable prices. So far, 75 fertilizer sales centers in the district have been inspected in the Kharif season 2026. Show-cause notices have been issued to 38 sales centers for irregularities found during the inspections.

Protecting the interests of farmers is a top priority. If any irregularities are found in the storage, distribution, and sale of fertilizers, strict administrative and legal action will be taken against the seller under the Fertilizer Control Order 1985 and the Essential Commodities Act 1955. He appealed to farmers to purchase fertilizers only from authorized sellers and to immediately inform the Agriculture Department of any complaint. This initiative by the Agriculture Department will ensure timely availability of quality fertilizers to the farmers of the district, reduce farming costs, preserve soil fertility, and help achieve better production in the Kharif season.
