642.27 crore rupees transferred to the accounts of 68.54 lakh women
Respect, self-reliance and economic empowerment of women got a new boost.
Raipur/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai released the 28th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana at a state-level program held in Bilaspur today and transferred an amount of Rs 642 crore 27 lakh 77 thousand 950 to the bank accounts of 68 lakh 54 thousand women of the state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the respect, empowerment and self-reliance of women are among the top priorities of the state government and the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has emerged as a historic and transformative initiative in this direction.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the progress of any society or state cannot be complete until women are economically empowered and socially respected. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana is not only providing economic security to women but also strengthening their self-confidence and decision-making abilities. He said that this scheme is becoming the foundation for positive change in the lives of the state's mothers and sisters.
It is noteworthy that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which began in the state on March 1, 2024, eligible married women are being provided financial assistance of one thousand rupees per month. Women are using the funds received from the scheme to meet family needs, children's education, health care, nutrition, and small self-employment initiatives. This has not only strengthened the economic condition of families but has also increased women's social participation.
With the 28th installment released in June 2026, a total of more than 18,165 crore 19 lakh rupees in assistance has been provided to women in the state under the scheme. This amount is playing a vital role in ensuring economic stability and social security in the lives of women.
The Chief Minister said that the state government's goal is to ensure that the benefits of the government's public welfare schemes reach the last person in society. In line with this vision, 7,770 new women have been linked to the Mahatari Vandan Yojana through the Niyada Nellanar campaign, conducted in Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, and Narayanpur. This is also providing financial assistance and social security benefits to women in remote and vulnerable areas.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that today the Mahatari Vandan Yojana is no longer just a scheme that provides financial assistance, but has become a powerful symbol of women's respect, trust, and self-reliance. The scheme has boosted women's self-confidence, and they are playing a more active role in their families and society.
He said that women's participation is paramount in building a developed Chhattisgarh. The state government is continuously working for the social, economic, and educational upliftment of women, so that every woman in the state can live an empowered, self-reliant, and dignified life.
With the effective implementation of Mahatari Vandan Yojana, a new wave of women empowerment has flowed in the state.
