Successful organization of agricultural workshop to connect farmers with advanced techniques of organic farming
Important initiative towards making Dantewada a model district for organic farming
Raipur, It has been organized to train farmers and agriculture lovers to do natural and sustainable farming by reducing their dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. A one-day organic farming workshop was organized under the joint aegis of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Agriculture Department with the aim of promoting organic farming in Dantewada district and to provide information about advanced agricultural techniques to the farmers. A large number of farmers, rural youth, women self-help groups and agricultural experts participated in the workshop.
Organic farming is the basis of a healthy society and prosperous agriculture.
Addressing the program, Minister of Forests, Transport, Cooperation and Parliamentary Affairs and Minister in-charge of the district, Shri Kedar Kashyap, said that Dantewada district has immense potential for organic farming. The natural conditions here and the hard work of the farmers provide a favorable environment for organic farming. He said that organic farming is not only a means of increasing production, but is also linked to human health, environmental protection, and a secure future for future generations. By adopting organic farming, farmers can maintain soil fertility and produce quality and safe food.
Many schemes are being run for farmers
Forest Minister Mr. Kashyap said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the central government is implementing numerous schemes to promote natural and organic farming, increase farmers' income, and make agriculture profitable. The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai, is also making continuous efforts for the economic empowerment of farmers and agricultural development. He urged farmers to plant more trees on their field boundaries, saying this would promote land conservation, water conservation, and environmental balance.
Organic farming will become the new identity of Dantewada
Regional MLA Shri Chautaram Atami said that farmers in the district are achieving better production and higher incomes by adopting organic and natural farming. He added that the Krishi Vigyan Kendra is playing a vital role in making farming more advanced and profitable by providing scientific information, training, and modern technology to farmers.
He urged farmers to take maximum advantage of the schemes and training programs run by the Agriculture Department and the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Scientists gave information about advanced agricultural techniques
During the workshop, scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra provided farmers with important information on organic farming, green manure, biofertilizers, vermicompost, natural pest and disease management, value addition, and marketing of organic products. Experts also addressed farmers' problems.
Various departments set up information and exhibition stalls.
At the event, stalls were set up by the Agriculture Department, Agricultural Science Center, Horticulture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department, and Bhumgadi Sanstha to provide information about various schemes, technologies, and agricultural innovations to farmers. Agricultural inputs and mango saplings were also distributed to farmers.
Women self-help groups demonstrate innovation potential
In the programme, cakes prepared from ragi were displayed by the members of women self-help groups associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The chief guest cut the cake and appreciated the efforts of the women groups and described value addition based activities as an important medium of rural livelihood. District Panchayat President Shri Nandlal Mudami, District Panchayat Vice President Shri Arvind Kunjam, Janpad Panchayat President Smt. Sunita Bhaskar along with public representatives, departmental officers-employees and farmers from various villages of the district, rural youth and members of women self-help groups were present in large numbers in the programme.
