New Delhi. Significant relief has come for those struggling with traffic congestion in New Delhi. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the Dwarka Tunnel project, estimated to cost approximately ₹7,000 crore. The Kanpur-Kabrai Highway project has also been given the green light.
The 8.1-kilometer-long, six-lane Dwarka Tunnel in Delhi will cost ₹6969.67 crore. This tunnel will directly connect the Dwarka Expressway and Vasant Kunj, making travel between Gurugram, IGI Airport, and West and South Delhi easier and faster than ever before.
Meanwhile, approval has been granted for the construction of a 4/6-lane access-controlled highway from Kanpur to Kabrai in Uttar Pradesh. This project will cost ₹7145.14 crore. This will strengthen connectivity between Kanpur, Sagar, and Bhopal and provide new benefits to the industrial and agricultural sectors.
The government claims that both projects will boost the country's economic activity and ease daily travel for millions of people. The impact of these projects on employment and investment is also expected in the coming years.
