PWD Secretary reviews progress of ongoing works in jails

Raipur . Public Works Department Secretary Mukesh Kumar Bansal reviewed the progress of construction work underway in various prisons across the state. In a meeting held today at the PWD headquarters, Nirman Bhawan, he directed district executive engineers, jail superintendents, and contractors to coordinate and expedite the work, ensuring its completion. Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Himanshu Gupta and Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department V.K. Bhatpahari also attended the meeting. Executive engineers, contractors, and jail superintendents from various divisions of the Public Works Department joined the meeting via video conference.

The Public Works Department Secretary reviewed the ongoing construction of barracks, boundary walls, toilets, and watchtowers in various prisons across the state. He inquired about the pace and quality of construction work from departmental officials as well as the superintendents of all prisons. He directed officials to regularly visit work sites and strictly monitor the work. He also directed contractors to ensure the quality of construction materials and construction, expedite the work, and ensure timely completion.Bansal directed executive engineers and jail superintendents to ensure proper transportation of construction materials within the jail premises, while maintaining safety standards. He also instructed jail superintendents to provide adequate daily work time for workers. Construction of new barracks and expansion of existing facilities will provide relief. He directed field officers of the Public Works Department, jail superintendents, and contractors to work at a faster pace and complete the projects within the stipulated time. construction of a parking shed, a school shed, a visitor and family shed, and toilets at the Raipur Central Jail. He also reviewed the construction of a 1,500-accommodation special jail in Nagoi, Bilaspur, boundary walls at the district jails of Dhamtari and Gariaband, and barrack construction at the district jails of Janjgir, Ramanujganj, Surajpur, Kanker, Sanjari-Balod, and the sub-jail Sarangarh. The departmental secretary reviewed the progress of work of increasing the height of the main wall in Kawardha sub jail, construction of barracks and toilets for prisoners in Central Jail Ambikapur and Jagdalpur, construction of toilets in District Jail Dantewada, concertina wire fencing and watch tower construction around the main walls of District Jail Sukma and watch tower construction work in Sub Jail Bijapur and gave necessary instructions to the officials.
