Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has given a major indication regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), saying that a meeting of the committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai will be held soon. Based on the committee's recommendations, the government will move forward with the passage of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the upcoming winter session.

While talking to the media in Raipur before leaving for Karnataka tour, the Chief Minister said that the government is working seriously on this issue and after completion of the committee process, it is preparing to bring it in the winter session of the Assembly.

During this, the Chief Minister also reacted sharply to the Congress protest in Raipur. He said that in a democracy, everyone has the right to peaceful demonstrations, but no one can be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Referring to the stone-pelting incident during the BJP protest, the Chief Minister said, "Congressmen have resorted to stone-pelting, just like in Kashmir. Protest is a right in a democracy, but violence and stone-pelting are unacceptable." He clarified that strict action will be taken against those involved in lawlessness and violence, as per the law.
