He claimed that even many former Naxalites who have surrendered are not receiving the expected benefits of the rehabilitation policy. He said that more than 50 former Naxalites who recently returned to the mainstream from Gadchiroli in Maharashtra have been sent to their home region of Bastar. The government should clarify what benefits have been provided to them so far under the rehabilitation schemes.
The Congress president cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah's announcement during the Bastar Pandum in 2025, claiming that each "Naxal-free village" would receive a separate allocation of ₹1 crore for development work, but no village has received this amount yet. Baij alleged that innocent tribals who protested the plunder of resources were being jailed as Naxalite collaboratorsHe questioned why innocent tribals imprisoned on charges of being Naxalite collaborators are not being reviewed and released when surrendered Naxalites are being given the opportunity to return to the mainstream. He pointed out that the previous Congress government, under the policy of "trust, development, and security," had formed the Justice Patnaik Committee to secure the release of innocent tribals.
Along with this, efforts were made to increase the income of tribals and protect the natural resources of Bastar by increasing the price and collection of forest produce. Baij alleged that the current government, in the name of security and development, is cutting down forests and handing over Bastar's water, forest, land, and mineral resources to industrialists. He also questioned the government regarding various projects and mining activities, citing Nandraj mountain, Bailadila, Bacheli, Kirandul, and the Hahaldi area of KankHe alleged that industrial interests were being prioritized over the forests of Bijapur and Narayanpur, the Shabri, Dankani, Shankani, and Indravati rivers, and the region's valuable mineral resources. The Congress president said that nature, the environment, and the future of local tribals should not be put at risk in the name of development in Bastar. He alleged that the state government was presenting a picture of Bastar's development through publicity and advertisements, rather than addressing real Hyderaba
