Raipur. The monsoon season is still ongoing across the country. In its latest forecast released on Wednesday, September 2nd, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds for several states simultaneously on September 3rd. Chhattisgarh will also face the risk of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning on September 3rd.

Rain and storm alert:
A warning has been issued for heavy rain, thunderstorm, and lightning in Chhattisgarh on September 3. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of bad weather in many areas including Balrampur, Surguja, Manendragarh, Surajpur, Raipur, Bilaspur, Dhamtari, Janjgir-Champa, Durg, Korba and Mahasamund. Strong winds may blow along with the rain. Weather reports have predicted wind speeds reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the public,
stating that along with rain, thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in the state. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid standing in open fields, near trees, and power poles during this inclement weather. Furthermore, branches of large trees may break and fall during the storm. Vehicles parked on the roadside are also at risk of damage.

Rain continues in Chhattisgarh.
Due to the influence of a well-marked low pressure over Gangetic West Bengal, rain continues in northern and central Chhattisgarh. Balrampur district has received the most rainfall. Chando recorded 150 mm, Ramchandrapur 120 mm, Ramanujganj-Wadrafnagar 80 mm each, and Balrampur, Kusmi, and Samri recorded 70 mm each.

The continuous rain has benefited the paddy crop, but vegetable growers are worried. The Shivnath River in Durg is in spate, with one and a half feet of water flowing at the Mahamara Anicut. The Water Resources Department has opened 12 gates.
