In view of the continuous inflow of water into the dams, the district administration has issued an appeal to take precautions.

Dhamtari. In view of the continuous rainfall in the district and the inflow of water into the reservoirs, the district administration is continuously monitoring the water level and the condition of rivers and streams. According to information received at 8 am today, September 3, the water level in the major reservoirs of the district is very high. The Gangrel Reservoir is 97.40 percent full, the Murumsilli Reservoir is 98.61 percent full, the Dudhawa Reservoir is 86.86 percent full, and the Sondhur Reservoir is 69.25 percent full.
In view of the inflow of water into the reservoirs, a total of 4670 cusecs of water is being released from the Gangrel Reservoir through three gates. Of this, 1410 cusecs is being released into the Mahanadi Main Canal through the Rudri Barrage, and 3360 cusecs into the Mahanadi River. Given the inflow of water into the reservoirs and the possibility of upcoming rainfall, the river water level is likely to rise further.

o Special alert in villages situated on the banks of Mahanadi River
In view of the possibility of increase in the water level of the river due to release of water in Mahanadi and the creation of a flood like situation, the district administration has issued an alert in all the villages situated on the banks of Mahanadi River. The administration has appealed to the villagers not to go near the river, drains and waterlogged areas and not to attempt to cross the river unnecessarily. People living in low lying and sensitive areas have been advised to be extra cautious and if required, move to safe and higher places marked by the administration. In rural areas, the concerned officials, field staff and local administration have been instructed to keep a constant watch on the situation and shift people to safe places as per requirement.

Collector Abinash Mishra appealed to the residents of the district, stating that the administration is constantly monitoring the situation due to the good inflow of water into the reservoirs. He urged the people of the villages along the Mahanadi River to exercise special caution and maintain a sufficient distance from the river and waterlogged areas in view of the rising water level.

He directed officials to regularly monitor river and reservoir water levels and to provide immediate information as needed in sensitive areas. In case of any emergency, the concerned departments should coordinate with each other to ensure prompt action. The Collector appealed to villagers to follow the warnings and instructions issued by the administration and to rely only on authorized information, ignoring rumors.
