She lived through the insecurity of a mud house, the ravages of the weather, and everyday difficulties. But now, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) has transformed her life.
The sub-health center at Pakhanjur Subhash Nagar has been closed for the past seven months.
The Health Department had assigned the responsibility of managing the center to the Rhoma of Ghodagaon as a temporary arrangement. However, the Rhoma is constantly on field duty in eight villages due to the Swasthya Bastar Abhiyan and vaccination work. Consequently, the Sub-Health Center in Subhash Nagar has been unable to operate regularly. The Chief Health Officer (CHO) has been absent for seven months, but the responsible officials have yet to inspect the center or appoint a replacement. The villagers have termed this as serious negligence of the health system and have demanded immediate appointment of a permanent health worker.
Children, cattle and others are being engulfed in the fire raging from chemical waste lying in a closed complex.
Residents report that the chemical factory has been closed for nearly 30 years. The factory previously manufactured medicines. Due to the long closure, the buildings have now fallen into ruins, and the compound's boundary walls have been breached in several places. A large pile of chemical waste has been lying in the factory premises for years. Now, a fire is continuously raging within this waste material. Locals claim that approximately 4,000 square feet of area is engulfed. Embers-like formations are visible underground, and hot smoke and steam are emanating from several locations. Due to the open area, children from the surrounding area come there to play. While playing, they often reach the fire blazing underground, causing severe burns to their feet. According to ward residents, four children have suffered serious burns to their feet so far. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital. People say that if the administration does not take action in time, a major accident could occur.
Local resident Ganesh alleged that the administration has been informed of the matter several times, but no concrete action has been taken. The factory premises, being open on all sides, poses a constant risk of accidents. Residents have demanded that the administration immediately seal the factory premises, remove the burning chemical waste, and ensure the safety
Health ambassadors crossed dense forests and rivers to save the lives of two innocent children.
Chief Minister's Swasth Bastar campaign proved life-saving, Madvi Nande and Sumdi got a new lease of life.
Under the campaign, health check-up and treatment of 1,74,770 people was completed.
Raipur, May 13, 2026: In the remote areas of Sukma district, where geography tests us at every step, the Sukma district administration and health department team have written an unparalleled example of dedication. Under the "Chief Minister's Healthy Bastar Campaign," the team reached the remote, inaccessible village of Durbha and gave new life to two innocent children, 5-year-old Madvi Nande and 4-year-old Madvi Sumdi. This proactive approach by the administration proved to be no less than a boon for these girls, weakened by malaria, severe malnutrition, and with only 2 to 3 grams of hemoglobin in their bodies.
Under the guidance of Collector Mr. Amit Kumar, health workers displayed indomitable courage, realizing Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai's pledge of a "healthy Bastar." When the team reached Durbha after crossing dense forests, rivers, and streams, the condition of the children made it a point to immediately transport them to the hospital. After walking miles on difficult roads, the children were brought to the primary health center, from where they were transported by ambulance to the District Hospital, Sukma, approximately 96 kilometers away. This sensitivity of the administration proved that the government's attention is focused on even the most remote people in Bastar.
Specialist doctors at the district hospital began treating the children on a war footing. These children, suffering from anemia and malaria, were not only given blood transfusions, but also provided with a full course of malaria treatment and intensive medical care. This free treatment at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) yielded positive results. Within a few days, the children's hemoglobin levels rose above 9 grams, and smiles returned to their pale faces. During this time, the children's families were also given special counseling on nutrition, hygiene, and mental development to ensure they do not face similar challenges in the future.
After treatment, the children were safely returned to their village. According to Collector Mr. Amit Kumar, this mission wasn't limited to treatment alone; the necessary documentation was also prepared to connect the children with other government welfare schemes. The laughter of these innocent children, who have returned to Durbha village today, echoes the successful efforts of the health department, which is reaching every person, crossing inaccessible mountains and dense forests.
Under the Chief Minister's Healthy Bastar Campaign, a target has been set to conduct health check-ups for a total of 2,93,386 people in Sukma district, out of which 1,74,770 people have been examined and treated till date. During the campaign, about 5,240 patients have been identified on the basis of symptoms of diseases like cataract, malaria, leprosy, TB, anemia, high-risk pregnant women, malnourished children, BP and sugar and have been referred to the Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre and District Hospital for better treatment.

A young man suffering from bloody cough for 10 years got a new lease of life at Ambedkar Hospital.
Emergency lobectomy surgery successful, removing the infected lung, providing relief from the disease
Successful surgery using cutting-edge lung stapler technology
Raipur, May 13, 2026/
The Department of Heart, Chest and Vascular Surgery at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur, performed a highly complex and life-saving surgery, successfully saving the life of a 25-year-old man. The patient had been suffering from a serious cough with blood for a long time. The condition had become so severe that approximately 50 to 70 ml of blood was being coughed up with each cough. According to doctors, if the operation had not been performed in time, the patient could have died due to excessive bleeding.
Dr. Krishnakant Sahu, Head of the Heart, Chest and Vascular Surgery Department of the hospital, said that most of the chest and lung operations are being performed with advanced technology in the Heart, Chest and Vascular Surgery Department of Ambedkar Hospital. A 25-year-old youth, resident of Chataud near Abhanpur, had been complaining of cough with blood in phlegm for the last 10 years. Initially, this problem was mild, but it was continuously increasing for the last one month. In the last few days, the condition became more serious and every time he coughed, excessive amount of blood started coming out.
The patient had previously taken TB medications and consulted several major hospitals for treatment, but found no relief. During the investigation, a CT scan was performed, which confirmed a large cavity in the lower lobe of the right lung and a fungal infection called aspergilloma. This condition is commonly seen in patients with TB.
After examining the CT scan report, Dr. Sahu explained that immediate surgery was necessary to save the patient's life. This surgical procedure, medically known as a lobectomy (removal of the lower lobe of the right lung), involves cutting out the infected part of the lung. This operation is considered extremely complex and high-risk, as it carries the risk of damaging the major blood vessels of the lungs—the pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein.
After obtaining the family's consent, the patient underwent an emergency operation the very next day. The surgery utilized cutting-edge lung stapler gun technology, reducing the risk of postoperative complications such as air leaks. Following the successful surgery, the patient's condition improved rapidly, and he was discharged from the hospital within a few days, fully recovered. The entire treatment was provided free of charge under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (Ayushman Bharat Yojana).
Dr. Sahu explained that coughing up blood is medically known as hemoptysis. Its main causes include pulmonary tuberculosis, lung cancer, pulmonary AV malformation, bronchitis, and other serious lung diseases.
Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, Dean of Pandit Nehru Medical College, said, "The team of doctors, through a coordinated effort, performed a successful, timely surgery, giving the patient a new lease on life. In the future, our institution is committed to providing patients with improved, accessible, and advanced healthcare services."
Dr. Santosh Sonkar, Medical Superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital, says that the hospital management has been continuously striving to provide high-quality, free treatment to needy patients through the Ayushman Yojana, and we are achieving success in this direction. Currently, many patients are benefiting from this scheme.
