Use of AI in the field of radiology will be a boon for patients: Minister Jaiswal
Raipur . The 15th annual state-level conference of IRIA CGCON 2025 is being organized under the joint aegis of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) - Chhattisgarh Chapter, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, and the Department of Radiodiagnosis of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital. The two-day conference was inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. More than 150 radiologists from across the country are participating in the conference.
In his address during the opening of the conference, Health Minister Jaiswal stated that the integration of AI into radiology and imaging technology could revolutionize the medical field. He added that today, as the world rapidly advances using AI in various fields, the use of AI in medicine, and especially in radiology, has become the need of the hour.
The Health Minister stated that AI-based imaging technology will improve the quality of testing, speed reporting, and enable accurate diagnosis even in remote areas where there is a shortage of radiologist specialists. This will reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities and ensure timely treatment.He called upon the radiologists from across the country gathered at the conference to work towards making healthcare services more accessible, accurate and effective through AI by adopting technological innovations, so that even patients living in remote areas of Chhattisgarh can avail the benefits of state-of-the-art medical facilities. This thought-provoking statement of the Health Minister was appreciated by the experts and participants present at the conference and they agreed on the need for serious discussion on the widespread use of AI in the field of radiology.On this occasion, Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, the patron of the organizing committee and Dean of Medical College, Dr. Santosh Sonkar, Superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital, Dr. Anand Jaiswal, Organizing President (President IRIA-CGCON), Dr. Vivek Patre, Vice President (Head of Department, Radiodiagnosis Department), Dr. A. A. Usman, former President of IRIA, and Dr. Vikas Bhojsia, Secretary, were prominently present.
Renowned experts and distinguished speakers from various states of the country, including Dr. C. Krishna, Dr. Varsha Joshi, Dr. Prashant Omkar, Dr. Nitin, and several faculty members participated in the conference.
