Jagdalpur. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma participated as the chief guest in the program organized in Jagdalpur on the occasion of National Science Day. This function was organized in the auditorium of Agriculture College under the joint aegis of Shaheed Mahendra Karma University, Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology and Vigyan Bharti. In the program, special emphasis was laid on promoting innovation, research and scientific thinking in the field of science.

In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that National Science Day is an opportunity to remember the contributions of scientists and to develop a scientific outlook among the youth. Young people are now the charioteers and should participate in all scientific endeavors. He urged students to move forward in innovation and research, not limiting science to curriculum. Referring to the current circumstances of early scientists in the world and India, he said that women and girls are currently being encouraged to pursue scientific pursuits. 
He called for scientific research to be promoted in Bastar, and for young scientists to be included in scientific texts. On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister announced the launch of the Science Tirtha Darshan campaign to increase awareness of science and encourage youth. This campaign will take young scientists on a study tour to the birthplaces of the country's leading scientists.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma launched the Dandakaranya Aamcho Bastar Science Festival. The Science Festival's activities will be held from March to September 2026. Events include Sojh-Goth (student and scientist dialogue), Johar Prakriti (village committee workshop), Bastar Anusandhan (Bastar folk science conference), Lok-Vaidya Sabha (traditional medical science studies, research, and workshops), and Vikas Yatra (a roundtable for intellectuals).
On this occasion, various scientists and experts from Bhopal and Raipur highlighted the latest developments in science and technology. The event aimed to promote scientific awareness among youth and highlight the importance of science in society. Dr. Prashant Kavishwar, Director General of the Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, Dr. Thallada Bhaskar, Director of CSIR Bhopal, Shri Vivaswan of Vigyan Bharati, and Professor Manoj Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of Bastar University, also spoke at the event. MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, MLA Shri Kiran Singh Dev, Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, eminent public representatives, Collector Shri Akash Chikhara, Superintendent of Police Shri Shalabh Sinha, professors, researchers and a large number of students were present in the program.
