For the first time in two decades, Naxalites failed to even launch TSOC operations in Bastar.
TSOC is considered the Naxalites' annual military operation. During this period, the organization's top leaders meet in the forests to formulate strategies, recruit new cadres, and plan to target security forces, police camps, and development projects. Summer leaf fall in the forests increases visibility, allowing Naxalites to launch larger attacks and ambushes. It's worth noting that in recent years, Naxalites have begun initiating TSOC earlier, anticipating the increased activity of security forces. Sometimes, it was initiated as early as January, so that major attacks could be launched before the heat sets in. However, this year, the situation in Bastar has completely changed as the deadline for the end of Naxalism, March 31st, approaches. The open Naxalite gatherings in the forests of Bastar have virtually ceased, and security forces have selectively demolished Naxalite memorials. The Naxalites' free movement in the forests has ended, and instead, security forces are seen patrolling. This has given the people of Bastar a sense of confidence that Bastar will be free of Naxalism. This will have to wait for time.
