MBBS scheme will strengthen electricity consumers who have become financially weak due to Corona

Raipur -- The Chief Minister's Electricity Bill Payment Settlement Scheme (MBBS), launched by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai on March 12, 2026, has proved to be a major relief and lifeline for economically vulnerable electricity consumers. Through this scheme, consumers who are unable to pay their outstanding electricity bills due to the coronavirus pandemic and other reasons will be provided direct relief.

This scheme is especially beneficial for low-pressure domestic, BPL, and agricultural consumers. Under this scheme, consumers will be rebated on the principal amount and surcharge based on the outstanding balance as of March 31, 2023. More than 29 lakh consumers in the state are expected to receive direct rebates of approximately ₹758 crore under this scheme. This is the first time such a large amount of relief is being provided in the power sector.

It is noteworthy that due to protocols and restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, meter readings were not conducted for several months. Consequently, a large number of consumers received electricity bills for several months at once, but due to financial constraints, they were unable to pay. The weakened economic situation caused by the pandemic further strained many families. This scheme was launched to provide relief to such consumers.

This scheme will not only provide relief to consumers in paying their outstanding electricity bills, but will also provide them with an opportunity to settle their old dues in a simple and convenient manner. The scheme will remain in effect until June 30, 2026. To participate, consumers can register through the More Bijli app, at all electricity distribution centers, and related offices.

The state government will also organize camps in villages to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the last person, so that as many needy consumers as possible can benefit. After payment, eligible consumers will begin receiving the benefits of the M-Energy scheme.

The Chief Minister's Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme will not only provide financial relief to millions of consumers but also encourage them to pay their electricity bills regularly. This sensitive initiative by Chief Minister Shri Sai is expected to provide significant relief to millions of families in the state.

Consumers have been appealed to avail maximum benefits of the scheme by registering on time and in case of any doubt during payment, they should contact the officials of the concerned distribution centre.
