Clean water reaches every home, changing the face of village Rahud
Raipur . Once struggling with a drinking water problem, Rahud village in Khairagarh development block is now establishing a new identity for itself in terms of availability of clean and safe drinking water, thanks to the Jal Jeevan Mission. With tap water reaching every home, a significant change is being seen in the daily lives of the villagers. Women and children, in particular, have been relieved of the responsibility of fetching water, allowing them to devote their time to other useful tasks.
The Public Health Engineering Department has constructed a 60 kiloliter high-level water tank in Rahud village under the Jal Jeevan Mission. In addition, household tap connections have been provided to approximately 300 families in the village through a robust pipeline network. Villagers now have regular access to clean drinking water in their homes.
Senior villagers say that previously, they had to travel long distances to get water. During the summer, the situation became even more difficult. Family members often spent considerable time just arranging water. But now, with tap water available, this problem has almost disappeared.
The Jal Jeevan Mission has not only provided drinking water, but has also raised awareness among villagers about water conservation and the protection of water sources. With the active participation of Gram Panchayats and villagers, the operation and maintenance of the water supply system is being improved, ensuring long-term benefits from the scheme.
The availability of clean drinking water has also had a positive impact on the health of villagers. The risk of diseases caused by contaminated water has decreased and awareness about hygiene and health has increased.
This transformation in the village of Rahud, brought about through the Jal Jeevan Mission, is a significant achievement in rural development. This scheme is not only providing water to every household, but is also playing a vital role in making the lives of villagers more comfortable, healthy, and dignified.
The Public Health Engineering Department has appealed to the villagers to use water judiciously and play an active role in the conservation of water sources, so that safe and adequate drinking water can be made available to the future generations also.
