Health department alert regarding H1N1/swine flu, appeal to take precautions

Do not ignore symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice on time.

Jashpurnagar. The health department has increased vigilance after the cases of H1N1/swine flu were reported in various districts of Chhattisgarh. In view of the cases of swine flu being reported in Durg, Bilaspur and other districts of the state, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. G.S. Jatra has appealed to the people of the district to take necessary precautions to prevent the infection. According to the health department, H1N1/swine flu is a respiratory infection, which can spread through coughing, sneezing and close contact of an infected person. In such a situation, personal hygiene and caution are very important to prevent the infection.

Take these precautions:

The Health Department has appealed to the public to cover their nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue when coughing or sneezing, to wash their hands frequently with soap and water, and to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth without washing their hands. If you have a fever, cough, or sore throat, avoid crowded places and, if sick, ensure adequate rest and avoid close contact with others.

Maintaining cleanliness at home and in the workplace, along with adequate ventilation, can also help reduce the spread of infection. It is also advised not to take antibiotics or other medications without medical advice.

Be alert if you notice flu-like symptoms:

Medical advice should be sought if symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, runny or blocked nose, headache, body ache, weakness and extreme fatigue appear. At the same time, in case of difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain or if the symptoms keep increasing, it is necessary to reach a health institution immediately and seek treatment. The Health Department has advised pregnant women, small children, elderly people and people suffering from serious or long-term illness to take special precautions. It is necessary to seek medical advice without delay if flu-like symptoms appear in these groups.

No need to panic, just be cautious:

The Chief Medical and Health Officer has appealed to the district residents, saying that there is no need to panic about swine flu, but it is important to remain vigilant to prevent infection. If symptoms appear, seek medical advice at the nearest government health institution instead of self-medicating.
