Raipur, September 2026. Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationwide tree plantation campaign, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board launched the campaign in Ambikapur, with the aim of conserving nature, enhancing the environment, and honoring the mother power. Under the chief patronage of Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Honorable Minister of Tourism, Culture, Religious Trusts, and Religious Endowments, a tree plantation program and the inauguration of various development works were organized at the Atal Vihar Yojana in Sargawan.

Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal said on this occasion that the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign is not just a tree-planting program, but an emotional and public-spirited pledge expressing respect for the mother power and responsibility towards nature. It is our responsibility to broaden this campaign, launched at the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, through public participation. The true success of this campaign will be when each person plants a sapling in honor of their mother and nurtures it until it becomes a tree.

He said that under the "One Tree in the Name of Mother" campaign, 7.25 crore saplings have been planted across the state. He explained that there had been a persistent demand for a boundary wall in the colony. Thanks to the initiative of the Housing Board Chairman, the boundary wall was completed and is being inaugurated today. He added that last year, tree planting was also done here under the "One Tree in the Name of Mother" campaign, and the saplings planted with the support of the colony residents have now blossomed into trees.

The campaign will also run in other housing schemes and colonies.

Housing Board Chairman Shri Anurag Singh Dev said that the national tree plantation campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' being run by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will not be limited to just one program but will also be implemented in a phased manner in other residential schemes and colonies of Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board.

He said that this campaign, which began in Ambikapur, will not only protect the environment but will also inspire every family and society to plant a tree in honor of their mother and pledge to protect it. The Board's objective is to make the colonies cleaner, more beautiful, greener, and environmentally friendly by promoting green areas in its various housing schemes. Through the campaign, tree plantation will be linked to public participation, and tree conservation and promotion will also be prioritized.

Construction and development of 251 buildings in 9.70 acres

During the program, tree plantation was also done at Atal Vihar Yojna, Sargawan, along with the inauguration of boundary wall and open gym. In Sargawan, Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has constructed and developed a total of 251 buildings on 9.70 acres of land at a cost of approximately Rs 3859.22 lakh. These include 14 HIG, 12 Sr. MIG, 40 Jr. MIG, 63 LIG and 122 EWS buildings.

The remaining construction and development work, including the boundary wall and WMM road, has also been completed under the plan. The inauguration of these facilities will provide the colony residents with a better living environment and essential basic amenities.

Little children gave the message of environmental protection through cultural presentations.

At the event, young children from the colony gave cultural performances, conveying the importance of trees and environmental protection. The children's performances not only raised awareness about environmental protection but also effectively conveyed the emotional message of the "One Tree for Mother" campaign.

The program was presided over by Shri Chintamani Maharaj, Member of Parliament, Surguja. Special guests included Ambikapur Mayor Mrs. Manjusha Bhagat, Mrs. Nirupa Singh, District Panchayat President, Surguja, Shri Harminder Singh Tinni, Chairman, Municipal Corporation, Ambikapur, Smt. Divya Singh Sisodiya, District Panchayat Member, Surguja, Shri Bharat Singh Sisodiya, Shri Akhilesh Soni, along with other public representatives, dignitaries, and colony residents.

At the end of the programme, the public representatives and officials of the Board present resolved to take forward the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign with widespread public participation and to plant as many trees as possible and protect them.
