New registration mark of Chhattisgarh state will be allotted to vehicles of other states.
Jashpurnagar . The Transport Department has informed that under Section 47 of the Central Motor Vehicles Act 1988, if any vehicle is kept or operated in any state for more than 12 months, it is mandatory to obtain the registration mark of that state. Most vehicle owners are getting the registration mark allotted from bordering states like Jharkhand and Orissa and operating their vehicles in Chhattisgarh, which is contrary to Section 47 of the Central Motor Vehicles Act 1988.
The permanent address of those vehicle owners is in Chhattisgarh state and the vehicle has been kept in this state for more than 12 months and till now the registration mark of Chhattisgarh state has not been taken, due to which the government is incurring loss of revenue. The Transport Department is informing all concerned that vehicle owners who have been allotted a registration mark in another state should obtain a No Objection Certificate from the relevant authority and submit it to the District Transport Office, Jashpur. Based on the submitted NOC, the District Transport Office, Jashpur, can then allot a new Chhattisgarh State registration mark to those vehicles. Otherwise, strict action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and Motor Vehicles Rules.
