Preparations for the Kharif season are in full swing, with fertilizers and seeds being made available to farmers as per demand.
Over 24,000 tonnes of fertilizers stored in the district, distributed on priority basis through cooperative societies
Raipur. Before the arrival of monsoon in Raigarh district, the farmers of the district have started preparing for the upcoming Kharif season. With the ploughing of fields, preparation for sowing and arrangement of agricultural inputs, farming-related activities have intensified in rural areas. Keeping in mind the needs of the farmers, the Agriculture Department and the District Administration have made extensive preparations to ensure the availability of fertilizers and seeds. Fertilizers and seeds are being made available to the farmers as per their demand through cooperative societies, while the process of approving cash loans to eligible farmers is also going on continuously. This is also being reviewed continuously by the Collector.
Deputy Director Agriculture said that the availability, storage and distribution of fertilizers in the district is being continuously monitored and necessary arrangements are being ensured as per the needs of the farmers.
According to information received from the Agriculture Department, the fertilizer storage and distribution system in the district for the Kharif marketing year 2026-27 is being systematically managed. To ensure fertilizer availability, continuous monitoring is being conducted from the district level to the development block level, so that farmers do not face any difficulties during the crucial farming season.
To date, over 24,138 tons of various types of fertilizers have been stored in the district. Of these, 15,789 tons are available in cooperative societies and 8,348 tons in the private sector. According to the Agriculture Department, fertilizers are being provided to farmers on a priority basis through cooperative societies, strengthening the access and distribution system for fertilizers in rural areas.
According to departmental data, approximately 48 percent of the target fertilizer has been stored in the district so far, and 52 percent compared to the same period last year. This year, approximately 46 percent of the available fertilizers have been distributed to farmers. Officials say that the fertilizer supply and storage process is being conducted in a phased and timely manner, in accordance with government guidelines.
The Agriculture Department, through monitoring teams, fertilizer inspectors, and field staff, is regularly inspecting cooperative and private fertilizer sales centers in the district. Ensuring fertilizer distribution to farmers is consistent with their agricultural acreage and needs. A comprehensive public awareness campaign is also being launched to promote balanced fertilizer use.
The department is encouraging farmers to use NPK, SSP, and nano fertilizers as alternatives to DAP fertilizer. In addition, awareness programs are being conducted in rural areas through wall writing, publicity, and agricultural extension activities to promote green manure production and soil health conservation.
The Agriculture Department stated that the fertilizer distribution system has been further strengthened in view of the upcoming Kharif season. Necessary arrangements have been made to maintain adequate availability even in the event of increased demand for fertilizers during the monsoon. The aim of the department is to ensure better production system of Kharif crops by providing quality agricultural inputs to the farmers on time.
