Uttarkashi. A 5-year-old child died on Sunday evening after falling stones and debris from a hill near Chirbasa on the Kedarnath trekking route. The debris on the road following the accident left several pilgrims stranded. A rescue operation was carried out overnight to safely evacuate the pilgrims. Rescue teams safely transported approximately 1,500 pilgrims across the route.

District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said the police control room received information about stones falling from a hill near Chirbasa. Five-year-old Yash, son of Rohtash Yadav, a resident of Etah, Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot after being struck by the stones. The rescue team deployed at the scene transported the child's body via palanquin to the MRP Bhairav ​​Temple, Junglechatti.

He stated that the Kedarnath walking route was blocked by debris and rocks in the Chirbasa area. In view of the safety of pilgrims, rescue teams deployed on the spot immediately launched an operation. The effort to transport pilgrims to safer locations continued late into the night.
