00 Prime Minister's Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme becomes the path to self-reliance
Raipur. Determined people not only improve their own lives through their determination and hard work, but also become an inspiration for society. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Ramrao Deshpande, a resident of Vaishali Nagar, Rajnandgaon, has proven with his strong determination that with proper planning and hard work, a strong foundation for self-reliance can be laid.
Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Industries Upgradation Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme of the Government of India launched to empower, formalise and promote small entrepreneurs (micro enterprises) in the food processing sector by providing credit-based subsidy (up to 35 per cent, maximum Rs 10 lakh), branding and marketing support, common infrastructure and training to new and existing enterprises to enable them to compete and increase their income under Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local.
Under the Prime Minister's Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Ramrao Deshpande took a significant step towards self-employment by starting his own industry. This scheme not only provided him with financial assistance but also provided the necessary guidance for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Economic Strength from Minor Forest Produce-Based Industries
: Considering the vast potential of minor forest produce available in the state, he established a processing industry based on chironji, myrobalan, and baheera. A total loan of ₹550,000 was approved for this industry for machinery and shed construction, of which a grant of ₹213,500 was received under the Prime Minister's Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme.
Women's Self-Help Groups Gain Permanent Employment
Along with establishing the industry, Mr. Deshpande also engaged women from the Sanskardhani Mahila Krishak Abhiruchi Self-Help Group in Kaurinbhatha. This provided the women with a regular income and led them to self-reliance, which also brought positive changes to their families' economic conditions.
Using funds received from the "Increased Production and Value Addition Potential through Modern Machinery"
scheme, he purchased a Chironji decolorizer machine from ITI Mumbai. This machine removes the husk from the Chironji and extracts the kernels, while charcoal is produced from the husks. Additionally, oil is extracted from the Chironji, Harra, and Bahera kernels, and the Harra-Bahera decolorizer machine also performs the task of peeling. A
solar-powered processing unit:
Considering the difficulties of electricity supply in rural and forest areas, Mr. Deshpande has powered his processing unit with a solar plant. The use of solar energy has reduced his electricity bills and ensured continuity in production, significantly reducing costs.

Business expanded to four states, annual income of 4 lakh rupees.
Due to the consistent market demand for Chironji, Harra, and Bahera products, their business has now expanded to Chhattisgarh, as well as Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Odisha. This business generates an annual income of approximately 4 lakh rupees, improving their standard of living.
Integrating Forest Conservation, Livelihood, and Awareness:
This initiative has increased awareness about collection of minor forest produce, plant conservation, and sustainable livelihoods in forest areas. By providing employment to women in self-help groups, they are becoming economically empowered and new employment opportunities are being created locally.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister,
Mr. Pradeep Kumar Ramrao Deshpande said that the Prime Minister's Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme is proving to be extremely effective in promoting self-employment. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for this scheme.

Prime Minister's Fisheries Scheme changed Harishankar Patel's fortunes
Raipur . The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is emerging as a powerful vehicle for self-employment and self-reliance in rural areas. A powerful example of this scheme is Mr. Harishankar Patel, a resident of Kalmi village in the Raigarh development block. He has not only strengthened his financial situation by taking advantage of the government's scheme, but has also established himself as a successful and self-reliant fish farmer in the field of fish farming. Mr. Harishankar Patel, who has been involved in fish farming for nearly five years, took advantage of the "Construction of Ponds on Own Land" scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). He began scientific fish farming by constructing a pond on his private land, measuring 0.607 hectares. As a fish farmer from the general category, he received a 40 percent subsidy under the scheme, which significantly assisted in pond construction and initial arrangements.
The Fisheries Department provided him with fish seeds of improved species such as Rohu, Catla, and Mrigal at a 50 percent subsidy. Additionally, he also stocked Pangas and Rupchanda fish seeds using his own resources, diversifying his production and creating new income opportunities. Mr. Patel fishes between November and January each year.
The fish he produces, Catla, Rohu, and Mrigal, sell for ₹160 to ₹180 per kilogram, Rupchanda for ₹130 per kilogram, and Pangas for ₹110 per kilogram. Due to improved management, timely seed collection, and scientific practices, his pond consistently yields excellent production. Currently, Mr. Harishankar Patel is producing approximately 60 to 70 quintals of fish annually, earning him a net profit of ₹250,000 to ₹300,000 annually. This income is not only strengthening his family's financial situation but also leading him towards a self-reliant life. As a successful beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Harishankar Patel has become an inspiration for other fish farmers. Sukli Bai's water woes are over, she now has access to pure drinking water at home.
Raipur. The Jal Jeevan Mission has become a major relief for rural communities. This scheme now provides rural families with access to clean and safe drinking water in their homes. This has provided permanent relief from a long-standing water problem. With daily access to pure water, the lives of villagers have become easier and safer than before.
In the past, people in villages had to travel long distances to get water. Women, in particular, had to walk several kilometers each day to fetch water. This took a toll on their time, effort, and health. Water scarcity posed significant challenges in tasks like cooking, cleaning, and caring for livestock. Water is a vital necessity in our lives. From morning until night, water is needed for every task. Life without water is unimaginable. Recognizing this need, the government launched the Jal Jeevan Mission with the goal of "Water for Every Home," ensuring drinking water access in every village.
Mrs. Sukli Bai, a resident of Rokhni village, a dependent village of Khamhi Gram Panchayat in the Pandariya development block of Kabirdham district, who benefited from this scheme, explains that due to her age, fetching water from far away had become increasingly difficult. Bathing, cooking, and even providing water for her cattle were also major challenges. Lack of water at home disrupted all daily activities. She explained that after receiving a tap connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission, she no longer had to go anywhere for water. She now has access to ample clean water at home, making her life easier and safer than ever before. Sukli Bai expressed her gratitude to the government for providing access to pure drinking water at home through the Jal Jeevan Mission. Today, this scheme provides tap water to millions of households in the district. This has improved people's health, saved time, and improved their quality of life. This scheme is a highly commendable step towards rural development.
Hemchand's family got a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Raipur . In line with Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai's vision of providing safe and permanent housing to every family, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is transforming lives at the grassroots level. A living example of this is Mr. Hemchand Nag, a resident of Ward No. 4 of Nagar Panchayat Farasgaon, District Kondagaon, who gifted a permanent house to his father, Mr. Tirku Ram Nag, through this scheme.
Hemchand Nag explained that his old house, made of bamboo and mud, was frequently damaged during the rainy season. The weakened walls caused severe hardship for his family—his father, wife, and two children. The situation became so severe that he had to temporarily send his father to his brother's house for safety.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government's policy of effectively implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and ensuring that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries was followed. Hemchand Nag was added to the scheme during a ward-level briefing. Thanks to the active involvement of the Nagar Panchayat and related officials, the housing was approved, and a 29-square-meter permanent house was constructed at a cost of Rs 3.05 lakh.
On the auspicious occasion of the housewarming ceremony, Hemchand Nag first performed the rituals through his father and emotionally dedicated the permanent house to him. His father became emotional upon seeing the new house. Hemchand Nag said that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai's vision is not limited to announcing schemes, but rather aims to provide respect, security, and self-confidence to the last person. He expressed his gratitude to the councilor, the Chief Municipal Officer, and all the employees of the Nagar Panchayat for this achievement.
'Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh' campaign is gaining ground strength
aipur - The "Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh" campaign, spearheaded by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, appears to be effectively taking shape on the ground. Due to the vigilance and sensitivity of the Women and Child Development Department and the district administration, the child marriage of a 12-year-old girl, who had crossed rivers and streams in a remote and inaccessible area, was prevented in time. This swift action not only secured the future of an innocent child but also sent a powerful message to society against the evil practice of child marriage.
According to information received, on January 2, 2026, the administration received information that a minor girl was being married in the remote village of Nadigufa, part of the Gram Panchayat Ramaram, under the Sukma development block. Taking the information seriously, the Collector, under the guidance of the Collector, issued instructions for immediate necessary action. Subsequently, a joint team of the District Child Protection Unit, Child Line, and departmental staff was formed under the leadership of the District Women and Child Development Officer. Despite overflowing rivers and streams and extremely difficult geographical conditions, the team traveled on foot to the village and intervened in the marriage process in a timely manner.
On the spot, it was found that all preparations for the marriage had been completed as per traditional customs. The officials sensitively informed the family and villagers about the provisions of the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2006, its legal obligations, and its serious social consequences. The administration's persuasion had a positive impact, and the family voluntarily decided to stop the child marriage. The action was formalized by preparing a proper Panchnama in the presence of the villagers. During the action, the family was encouraged to reintegrate the girl into mainstream education and ensure her a safe and respectable future. Information about various government schemes related to child protection and education was also provided.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai launched the "Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh" campaign on March 10, 2024. The state government has notified 13,823 Child Marriage Prohibition Officers under Section 16 of the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2006. As a result of the campaign's effective implementation, 189 child marriages have been prevented in the state by November 2025. Due to the state government's continued efforts and public participation, Balod district has been declared completely child marriage-free, serving as an inspiration for the entire state. For the year 2025-26, the state government has set a target of declaring 50 percent of the state's gram panchayats and urban bodies child marriage-free by March 31, 2026, and making Chhattisgarh a completely child marriage-free state by March 31, 2029. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade have clarified that ensuring a safe, educated and dignified future for children is the top priority of the state government. Administrative vigilance, public awareness and prompt action will continue to eradicate social evils like child marriage.
A big gift from the government: Now, free medicines for diabetes and thyroid will be available in village hospitals too.
Chhattisgarh: In addition to colds, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, primary health centers in Chhattisgarh will now offer patients medications for diabetes, thyroid, and blood thinning. Currently, these medications are only available at district and medical colleges. Therefore, patients suffering from these conditions must frequently travel to city medical colleges or district hospitals far from their villages. Availability of these medications in village hospitals will provide relief to patients.
The Health Department has expanded
the list of essential medicines. Primary health centers will now supply 247 medicines from 146, and community health centers will supply 365 medicines from 196.
146 types of medicines will also be available at sub-health centers.
It should be noted that currently, sub-health centers only provide medicines for common colds. Now, like primary health centers, they will supply 146 types of medicines. These medicines will also include antibiotics and pain injections. This means that the treatment currently available at primary health centers will now be provided at sub-health centers.
Patients will receive relief.
