Mahashivratri 2026: Unprecedented crowds of devotees thronged temples in Chhattisgarh.
On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri 2026, Shiva temples across the country, including Chhattisgarh, witnessed an unprecedented influx of devotees. Long queues of devotees formed at the Hatkeshwar Nath Temple on the banks of the Kharun River in Raipur since early morning, with people entering with water and Belpatra (wood apple leaves) and chanting "Har Har Mahadev." Similarly, a large number of devotees arrived at the Bhoramdev Temple in Kawardha, known as the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh, to have darshan and perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Devotees observed a fast and offered Belpatra (wood apple leaves), Dhatura (flowering dhatura), and Gangajal, praying for happiness and prosperity. An atmosphere of faith and enthusiasm resonated throughout the temple complex.
