By growing maize instead of paddy, Malti Mohan has become an example of advanced farming.
Raipur. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, various schemes are being implemented in Chhattisgarh to conserve water and increase farmers' income. These efforts have yielded positive results in the form of Shri Malti Mohan, a farmer from the village of Kadro in the Pathalgaon development block of Jashpur district.
Shri Malti Mohan, a farmer who used to cultivate summer paddy in the past, this time made a change under the guidance of the Agriculture Department and cultivated maize crop in 2 acres of land. With this innovation, he got better production and a net income of Rs 88 thousand 200. The farmer told that the total expenditure in maize cultivation was Rs 11 thousand 800, which includes seeds, fertilizers and other necessary arrangements. He earned around Rs 1 lakh from the sale of maize, which made it possible to earn a good net income. He told that compared to paddy, maize cultivation requires less water and less cost, while the profit is more.
Mr. Malti Mohan explained that summer paddy cultivation requires more water and is also costly, while maize has emerged as a better alternative. This change has not only increased his income but also promoted water conservation and environmental protection. The farmer expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai for this initiative. His success is also inspiring other farmers, who are now turning to alternative crops instead of paddy.
