Farmers are being encouraged to grow pulses and oilseeds crops.

Jashpurnagar . On the instructions of Collector Rohit Vyas, workshops are being organised for farmers in all the committees of the district under the Prime Minister's Wealth-Farming Scheme. On the first day of the workshop on December 9, in the programmes organised in Ara, Aasta, Narayanpur, Chongribahar, Tapkara, Vimda, Gharjiabathan, Kerakachhar, Kurong, Kilkila and Pandrapath committees, the officials of the Agriculture Department encouraged the farmers to plant pulses and oilseeds crops in place of summer paddy. Along with this, detailed information was given about various effective ways to increase agricultural income.

The Deputy Director of Agriculture informed the farmers at the workshop that the government has made arrangements to purchase pulses and oilseeds grown in nine committees in the district at a price support rate. While paddy requires more water, pulses and oilseeds can be grown in larger areas with less water, naturally increasing farmers' income. In this context, the benefits of scientific farming, cost reduction, market availability, and crop diversification were discussed in detail. Farmers were also provided information about grants and technical assistance available under departmental schemes. Farmers enthusiastically agreed to adopt pulses, oilseeds, horticultural crops, as well as fish farming and animal husbandry in place of paddy. Agriculture Department officials, employees, and farmers were present on the occasion.
